How do I choose between file and text scanning?
Use File for a document, spreadsheet, PDF, image, TXT, or CSV already on your device. Use Text / Code to paste a prompt, snippet, configuration, or message before sending it. Both standard checks run locally in your browser.
What should I do if content risks are found?
Review the masked finding and change, remove, rotate, or redact the source content yourself. CheckBefore does not automatically rewrite personal information or credentials. Run the check again after your edit.
Does CheckBefore guarantee a file is safe?
No. Results reflect only the checks performed. Review visible content and every item marked for a manual check.
Will cleaning change my original?
No. CheckBefore creates a separate copy. You can restore and rescan the original in the current session.
Are all hidden items deleted?
No. Supported cleanup is explicit. For example, Excel hidden items are made visible rather than deleting cell contents.
Which formats are available?
.txt, .csv, .xlsx, .docx and text-layer .pdf files support local content scanning. Images keep metadata checks only. Older Office formats and HEIC are not currently supported.
