What CheckBefore does not do
- It does not inspect, recognize, blur, redact, or alter visible image pixels.
- It cannot find faces, read text shown in an image, or decide whether the picture itself is safe to share.
- Only supported JPEG metadata segments, PNG metadata chunks, and WebP EXIF/XMP chunks are checked and removed; other format-specific data may remain.
Frequently asked questions
Can it remove GPS data from a photo?
For supported JPEG, PNG, and WebP metadata structures, detected GPS metadata can be removed with the containing EXIF or XMP metadata from a new copy.
Does metadata removal change image pixels?
No. The cleaner removes recognized metadata segments or chunks and preserves the image data. It does not inspect or edit the visible pixels.
Which image formats are supported?
The current scanner accepts JPG, JPEG, PNG, and WebP. Metadata coverage differs by each format as described on this page.
